On
Our Kinesiology department is comprised of several specialized areas of study such as fitness specialist, health promotion, recreation and sport administration, and occupational therapy. We offer courses such as biomechanics, sociocultural foundations of sport, sport and exercise psychology, exercise physiology, foundations of human movement, sport management, and more. All of these areas are foundational elements of the professional applications of our discipline.
The degrees through the Department of Kinesiology require a common core of courses, which is aligned with the American Kinesiology Association's undergraduate degree core content knowledge.
The purpose of the Department of Kinesiology is:
- To provide a comprehensive academic program in health, fitness, recreation, and sport management for students who plan to pursue one of these fields as a profession;
- To educate individuals about risk factors associated with certain lifestyle choices and provide them with the skills to make behavioral changes that will improve their health and the quality of their lives'
- To provide a service program which will afford all students the opportunity to learn and participate in a wide range of activities which will benefit them now and in the future; and
- To provide recreational activities that will enable students and faculty to enjoy their leisure time in a program that will benefit them physically, mentally, and socially.
